Physical environment S'Albufereta de Pollença is a
wetland joined to the sea by the Es Grau estuary. Hydrologically,
it is replenished by four water courses: Can Xanet; Del Rec; de la
Font del Mal Any and Can Roig. S'Albufereta is of major interest due
to the diversity of its habitats, both natural and semi-natural, and
consequently the great diversity of species present, especially in
the case of birdlife.
Flora The vegetation of S'Albufereta is typical of the wetlands
of the Mediterranean shore, with reeds, bulrushes and rushes predominant.
|
Fauna S'Albufereta is especially important as the nesting
ground for species such as the purple gallinule, the marsh harrier,
the black-winged stilt, the yellow wagtail and the sedge warbler.
In winter common visitors are cormorants, egrets, and various
species of ducks and geese.
The reserve is a place of passage and a food resource for all
the migratory species, both in autumn and in spring. With respect
to raptors, the osprey and Eleanor's falcon are relatively common.
