Three years after teh creation of the Service of Local Agenda 21 in the department of Local Cooperation, the results at the local area were undeniable: in 2001 there were ten towns involved at the process of the A21L and in 2004 the figure had increased until forty-four, and from one to seven if we refer to towns with the plan of action passed. On the other hand, the results at the area of social participation were not satisfactory as the public sessions called at these towns did not gather together a significant number of participants.
In this context, once seent the necessity of promoting teh social participation, there will be into motion, as a show experience, the program Agenda 21 for Schools with the participation, during the course 2004-05, of a total of eight educational centres of different towns of Majorca.

Simultaneously takes place a transfer of materials of environmental diffusion to all the educational centres and entities related to environmental education. Among these materials is remarkable the Guide of the Agenda 21 for Schools of Majorca, a document published in CD that suggests a methodology to implant the A21 for Schools and that also includes a ser of educational experiences, proposals of activities, available resources, bibliography, and so on. to work each of the areas (water, residues, energy...) that integrate the concept of sustainability.

Another divulgative material given to the schools was a collection of posters that represent in a graphic way the functioning of the natural systems and the impacts of the human settlements and of the infrastructures over the territory, always referred to our insular reality.

Moreover, also an itinerant exhibition is put at the disposal of teh educational centres that, through images, texts and objects of the daily life, invites reflecting about the use we do of the natural resources and about aour own guidelines of consume. The exhibition was very good received as shows the fact that between February and Juny twenty centres visited it.

Obviously, the new program needed a team of people that advised the educational centres at the process of implantation of the A21E. This need was covered with the same educational equipment that years before was collaborating with the Consell de Mallorca through the program of awareness in terms of residues Mallorca Recicla, that was born from an agreement between the Consell, the Foundation Deixalles and the company TIRME.
